The Catch

On October 19, 2006, "the catch" was born as Endy Chavez made the catch over the left field wall to make the second out and turn a double by a runner who left the first base bag and then got doubled out. But how did the Mets lost well with the base loaded in the bottom of the ninth a pitch inside that might have looked like a ball, so Carlos Beltran froze and it was called a strike to end the game at Shea Stadium. The Mets lost to the Cardinals to a score of 3-1.
