Michael Alan "Mike" Pelfrey (born January 14, 1984, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio) is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher who is a free agent. He has earned a nickname with the team as he his called Big Pelf.

2005[]

He was drafted by the Mets as the 9th pick in the 2005 draft. He played in the minors since then.

2006[]

He made his debut on July 8 when the Mets won to a score of 17-3 thanks to grand slams by Carlos Beltran and Jose Valentin over the Florida Marlins. As August arrived he was sent back down to the minors.

2007[]

His struggles began has starting the season on a 0-5 streak he was sent down yet again after earning a spot in the rotation.

2008[]

Pelfrey had a successful season where he kept getting wins.

2009[]

Mike was Citi Field's first starter ever. That became famous after he gave up a homerun to Jody Gerut. As the team had it's disappointments Pelf went 10-12 leading the majors with 6 balks. On May 17 he balked 3 times in a game.

2010[]

Pelfrey got his first career save in The 20 inning game.

2011[]

In 2011 he was struggling. One of the starts came in at Citi Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates but the Mets Bullpen and the Mets Offense did wonders in Pelfrey blunders,Pen & Bats Do Wonders on June 2.

2012[]

On April 24 Mike was placed on the DL due to elbow swelling. His spot went to pitcher Robert Carson but he didn't make an appearance at all. So on April 26 the spot later went to Chris Schwinden after Carson was sent down. On May 4 Pelfrey underwent Tommy John Surgery and was placed on the 60 Day DL. He missed the entire season as he went with an ERA of 2.29 with 13 Ks and only 4 BBs over 20 innings in 3 starts. He had no wins or losses. On November 30 he was non-tendered by the Mets along with Andres Torres and Manny Acosta.
