Jesús Fernando Martínez Álvarez (born October 10, 1988) is a Major League Baseball Dominican professional baseball player outfielder for the Houston Astros. He is nicknamed F-Mart.


He began his professional career in 2005. From 05-2008 he played in the minors.


He made his major league debut on May 26. He hit his first major league homer on June 30, against the Milwaukee Brewers in a 6-3 loss. Martinez was one of the 3 Fernando's with the team. The other 2 were Fernando Tatis and Fernando Nieve. See the page here.


August 7, 2010.

On August 20 the Mets send down Fernando Martinez to the Minors to make room for Rod Barajas.

On May 12 the Mets brought up Martinez to fill in the spot for Ike Davis as he was placed on the DL.

On May 27 Angel Pagan was no longer on the DL as they sent down Fernando Martinez and DFA'd Pat Misch also they brought up Dale Thayer to the club.

He was called back up on June 29 as Willie Harris wife was in labor and expecting their 3rd child. But the baby was lost on June 30. He was sent down on July 3 as Harris returned.


On January 11 he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros.
