Gary Edmund Carter (April 8, 1954 – February 16, 2012), nicknamed "Kid", or "Kid Carter" was a Hall of Fame Major League Baseball catcher from 1974–1992. He played for the Mets from 1985 to 1989. In 2001 he was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame.
Illness & DeathEdit
On February 16, 2012, Carter died from Brain Tumors at the age of 57. Since upon his death the Mets announced that they will be wearing a black inverted home plate with the number 8 and "KID" inscribed on it. The team also put the patch logo on the outfield wall.
