Gary Cohen (born April 29, 1958, in Queens, New York) is the Mets broadcaster on SNY who does play-by-play along side with Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. He is also know for speaking on the radio of "the catch" of Endy Chavez. Also with Chavez making "the bunt" Gary was the broadcasting the game on SNY. Gary was a Mets fan growing up. He joined the network in 2006 as the main Mets broadcaster. His signature calls are It's Outta Here for a Mets player hits a homerun. During the end of the game when the closing pitcher strike's out the last batter of the game he says He Struck Him Out and the Ball Game is over!
In 2010 he officially announced during a Mets game that he would never ever join Twitter. He is not related to former host of Kids Clubhouse, Gabe Cohen. He even gave Pedro Feliciano a nickname during the 2010 season called Perpetual Pedro. During the 2011 season he gave Mike Baxter (a Queens native) a nickname called Mike From Whitestone.
He used to work for WFAN but in 2006 he did some playoff work when the Mets reached the playoffs in the same year SportsNet was founded.
Gary broadcasts New York Mets Season Games and Post Game Extra for SNY. Since joining he has contributed to shows such as Mets First Pitch, Mets Pre-Game Live, Mets Post-Game Live, Mets Hot Stove, Mets Playoffs Live, Mets On Deck: Playoff Edition, Mets Pre-Game: Playoff Edition, Mets Post-Game Live: Playoff Edition and Mets Playoffs Extra. He even hosted a special called Reflections on 9/11: The NY Mets Remember. Another special he hosted along with Kevin Burkhardt and Howie Rose is Mets All-Time Team. He also appeared on Mets Hall of Fame: Mike Piazza. He also appears on Oh Yeah. He was also a contestant on Battle of the Broadcasters with Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. He then appeared as a contestant with Howie Rose on Beat the Booth.
