Rodrigo Richard Barajas (born September 5, 1975) is a Mexican American professional baseball catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On February 24, he signed a 1 year contract worth $1 million.
On May 7, 2010 Barajas hit the first ever Citi Field Walk off homerun against the San Francisco Giants making it his third multi homerun game of the season in his first 5 weeks of the season as a Met. Followed by Henry Blanco who hit the second on May 8, 2010. It was the first time in the major leagues that two catchers in back to back days in 24 hours hit walk off homers.
On August 22,2010, The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed off waivers from the Mets. Instead the Mets called up Jesus Feliciano to replace his spot. Now the Mets have two catchers as they have Henry Blanco and Josh Thole.
- The Mets signed Barajas that sended Omir Santos down to the minors on February 20, 2010 as Henry Blanco would be the backup catcher.
- On June 24, 2010, Barajas had a stiff back and was put on the bench. But he wasn't placed on the DL as the Mets called up Josh Thole and placed Raul Valdes to the Minors.
